Auglaize County Health Department employees can expect to see 3 percent pay increases in the new year.
“The cost of living gets more expensive each year,” county Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons said. “We want our employees to be able to live substantially. They do good work and we want to be able to reward the work they do as much as the budget allows.
“We can never afford to pay them what they are worth,” she said.
Kevin M. Falor, 50, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at his residence, as a result of his battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born May 14, 1962, in Wauseon, the son of Linda (Krauss) and Michael B. Falor, who survive in Delta. On March 20, 1982, he married his high school sweetheart, Kelly J. Warncke, and she survives in Wapakoneta.

NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen girls basketball team swarmed Botkins with an array of defenses and ended the Trojan’s three-game winning streak with a 39-26 decision on Monday night.
Botkins shot 18 percent from the floor on 7-of-40 shooting and turned the ball over 21 times in the face of four different New Bremen defenses that included fullcourt and halfcourt presses and man-to-man defense.

CRIDERSVILLE — A change in set-up led to what was likely the largest turnout for Cridersville’s “Christmas on Main Street,” which was held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the community.
“This year we wanted to concentrate more on the kids,” said Charisse Zuppardo, co-chair of the event.
A slew of events were scheduled for the day, and Main Street was busy as parents and their children lined the sidewalks as they ventured from business to business and other places sponsoring special events.
A love for cars and science may lead a local middle school student to his future career.
Wapakoneta Middle School sixth-grader Jenson Tabler said he enjoys learning in one class in particular.
“I just like learning it,” Tabler said of his science class.
He said they recently did an experiment with cars, while they were learning about heat energy.
“We were seeing how far it (the car) would go,” Tabler said. “We were learning about kinetic and potential energy.”
Veterans Day is to honor the veterans who have served.
Memorial Day is to honor the veterans who have died.
National Wreaths Across America Day is to honor the veterans killed in action (KIA) and to support their families here at home.
The annual ceremony of placing Christmas wreaths at the headstones of soldiers killed in action started 15 years with a way to “Remember the fallen, Honor those who have served, and Teach our children the value of freedom.”
Carol M. Stuber, 80, 206 W. German St., New Knoxville, formerly of Lima, died at 5:42 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born Nov. 27, 1932, in Bellefontaine, the daughter of Eunice (Weatherby) and James Downing. On Nov. 19, 1949, she married Arthur P. Stuber, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1995.

ADA — The Wapakoneta Redskins boys basketball team won a key bounce-back game in convincing fashion Friday night, defeating the Ada Bulldogs, 74-26.
