Expectations are always high for a homecoming game, but the Wapakoneta Redskins were not able to keep up with the size and talent of the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans Friday night.
WAYNESFIELD — All week, Waynesfield-Goshen head coach Gary Spencer said that Friday's contest with Sidney Lehman would likely come down to how the Tigers strength, matched up against the Cavaliers strength, their defense.

Douglas J. Baker, 50, of Lima, died at 5:50 p.m. Sept. 26, 2012, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born June 26, 1962, in Lima, the son of Evelyn Irene (Weburg) and Bobby Baker, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 9, 1985, he married Diane L. Knowlton, who survives.
Marguerite Hile Stewart, 96, of Lima, died at 10:18 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Otterbein-Cridersville Skilled Nursing.
She was born July 27, 1916, in Cridersville, to Jenny (Burden) and Charles Baker (deceased). On Aug. 6, 1938, she married Rollin H. Hile, who after 61 years of marriage, died Jan. 9, 1999 at age 88. On April 3, 2004, she married George C. Stewart, who survives in Lima.
The highest paid mayor in Auglaize County is not the highest compensated in the county, an investigation into mayoral salaries and benefits show.
St. Marys Mayor Pat McGowan is the highest paid with an annual salary of $15,000, followed by Wapakoneta Mayor Rodney Metz with an annual salary of $10,000.
An Auglaize County dispatcher reported to work for the last time Friday — ending nearly a 24-year career with the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.
Carolyn Zenz, who started more than two decades ago, celebrated her career Friday with former and current dispatchers and deputies at the Sheriff’s Office.
“Carolyn Zenz has been a great asset to this office,” fellow dispatcher Mary Vorhees said.

CRIDERSVILLE — After much research and review, an area tree commission is ready to start on a big project.
Cridersville Tree Commission members are now ready to plant trees on the tree lawn on Main Street in the village.
Tree Commission Vice President Stacey Cook notified Cridersville Village Council members during Thursday’s Committee-of-the-Whole meeting that three different species of trees will be planted, which are maple, cherry and snow crab. Cook also is a member of the council.
CELINA — With an estimate of more than 5,000 unsolved homicide cases in the state of Ohio, Attorney General Mike DeWine created a centralized database for unsolved homicides to help local law enforcement solve these crimes.
CRIDERSVILLE — Cridersville Village Council members and local residents took advantage of a chance to speak their minds on a pressing issue in the village.
Cridersville Village Council Safety Committee members Thursday addressed the ownership and housing of animals within the village.
Before the second reading of an ordinance addressing pit bulls at the last regular council meeting, Cridersville Police Chief John Drake requested councilors table the issue after listening to concerns of the residents.
