Richard V. ‘Dick’ Shaw, 92

Richard V. ‘Dick’ Shaw, age 92, of Cridersville died 9:40 a. m., Tuesday, Sept. 4 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 16, 1920 in Cridersville to Edith M. (Shaffer) Shaw and Cloyd F. Shaw who preceded him in death.
Mr. Shaw graduated from Cridersville High School in 1938. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He retired from St. Rita’s Medical Center Patient Accounts Office in 1985. He was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church, the Cridersville Historical Society, the Lawrence Valley Grange and V. F. W. Post 8445.

Barbara Ann McCauley, age 79, ofW apakoneta died 2:45 a. m., Tuesday, Sept. 4 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1932 in Allen County Ohio to Merritt S. and Lucille J. HarruffMakin, who preceded her in death. She married S. Wayne McCauley on Oct. 10, 1953 and he preceded her in death March 2, 1995.

Rock 'n' rolled: Rock bands’ trailer wrecks on I-75

Area law enforcement and safety services responded to a rollover accident Wednesday morning on Interstate 75 near the Cridersville exit after a vehicle containing the pyrotechnic equipment of two nationally known rock bands crashed.

A semitrailer carrying the equipment for rock bands Motley Crue, popular during the 1980s and early 1990s, and KISS, popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s, lost control in the northbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 118 between Wapakoneta and Cridersville after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

2 arrested for meth

WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield law enforcement officers arrested two individuals on drug charges after a traffic stop at 10:58 p.m.Friday in Waynesfield.

Mark Fletcher, 40, of Mansfield, was arrested for assembly or possession of chemicals to make methamphetamines, a second-degree felony, and Joanna Schaub, 34, of Lexington, was arrested on fifth-degree felony charges for possession of a schedule two drug.

RAC hosts color, collage expert

The Riverside Art Center is gearing up for a workshop favorite to host a collage seminar — which a center member says may fill up quickly.

Dayton resident Nita Leland will be teaching a one-day collage workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta. The deadline for registration is Sept. 15.

Auglaize County Historical Society bulb sales begins

The fourth annual Heirloom Bulb Sale, featuring 12 varieties of bulbs, starts today with a deadline for ordering the bulbs being Sept. 30.

The Auglaize County Historical Society is offering the bulbs, all of which are older varieties rarely seen in garden centers, a historical society official says, with the bulbs being introduced to the world as early as 1594 and as late as 1925.

Fog delay

The Wapakoneta City Schools and St. Marys are now closed. Botkins Local Schools and Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools are still on a 2-hour delay this morning due to fog. A dense fog advisory was in effect until 10 a.m.
