C. Marie Sosby, 92, of Jackson Center, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born Aug. 24, 1920. in Auglaize County, the daughter of the late Delilah (Young) and Hugh and Graham. On May 26, 1941, she married Leonard A. Sosby, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Hugh (Mary) Sosby, of Jackson Center, and Chet (Judy) Sosby, of Jackson Center; six grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom T. Cartmell, 92, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Wapakoneta, the son of Druzella (Taylor) and Don S. Cartmell, who preceded him in death. On June 1, 1948, he married Mae Sheipline, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Lois R. âSargeâ Parlette, 79, of Cridersville, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at her residence.
She was born March 4, 1933, in Spencerville, the daughter of Mary (Brown) and John Bowers, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 4, 1954, she married James J. âJimâ Parlette, and he preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2009.
A Wapakoneta family is again walking this year to raise money for the American Heart Association, specifically congenital heart defects.
Jessica and Dan Makuh’s two daughters, Abby and Lauren, are joining them in the Dayton Heart Walk on Saturday. It’s their second walk as a family and means even more as Lauren nine weeks ago underwent her third and final heart surgery in a series for hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a condition with which the 3-year-old was born.
Barring any further delays, the reconstructed section of East Benton Street should be open to traffic by the end of October, a city official says.
On Wednesday, Wapakoneta Engineering Department Superintendent Mary Ruck updated Wapakoneta City Council Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks Committee members regarding on-going street and sidewalk projects this year. She discussed the final phases of the East Benton Street reconstruction project, the status of the Safe Routes to Schools sidewalk program and work on a bicycle route.
