Kathleen Hunsaker, 70

Kathleen S. Hunsaker, 70 of Columbus, died at 10:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at her residence in Columbus.
She was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Lima, the daughter of the late Helen (Moorman) and Glenn Allen and Allen. On July 30, 1959, she married John N. Hunsaker, who survives in Columbus.

Mary Hale, 92

Mary June Hale, 92, of Jackson Center, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born June 6, 1920, in Greenville, the daughter of the late Jenny E. Brandenburg and Jacob W. Minton.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Jerry D.) Myers, of Wapakoneta; a son, Jack Elliott, of Plymouth, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Flo Ellis of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Eunice Boggs, 79

Eunice P. Boggs 79, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Auglaize Acres.
Arrangements are incomplete at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta.

Cleopha Strete, 91

Cleopha Rose “Cleo” Strete, 91, of Cridersville, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born March 15, 1921, in St. Henry, the daughter of Anna (Selhorst) and Louis H. Lange, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 1, 1947, she married Ralph A. Strete Jr., who passed away Nov. 28, 1998.

Mildred Bowsher, 96

Mildred M. “Millie” Bowsher, 96, of Wapakoneta, died 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
She was born March 29, 1916, in Prentiss, the daughter of Frances (Schroeder) and Hubert Niese, who preceded her in death. On May 3, 1943, she married Charles B. Bowsher, and he died May 5, 1990.

Robert Minnich, 78

August 6, 2012

Robert Eugene Minnich, Sr. 78, of Lakeview, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday morning, Aug. 4, 2012, while at his home.
He was born April 9, 1934, in Stokes Township, Logan County, to the late Edna Wallace and Neil Minnich. In May of 1952, he married Judith Ann Smith, and she died in September of 2001. On Feb. 14, 2003, he married Opaline Trimble Watkins, and she survives.

The grand champion market steer’s selling price, setting a new high-water mark for steers, highlighted the second day of the Auglaize County Fair livestock auction, but for the second consecutive year an emotional moment caused tears to flow for bidders and two exhibitors.

Caitlin Schaub sold the grand champion market steer for $20,000 to five buyers, far eclipsing the $11,600 paid for Paige Klopfenstein’s grand champion market steer last year.

Family grows at fair

One Wapakoneta area family returned home Saturday from the Auglaize County Fair with a few more “kids” than when they arrived at the fairgrounds a week ago.

Enduring nine hours of labor in Friday’s heat and humidity and dealing with nerves of giving birth for the first time, the long-awaited event would soon arrive for the soon-to-be  mother in front of a crowd gathered around her.

Then the miraculous moment occurred.
