Myron “Sam” Katterheinrich, 86, of 216 W. Spring St., New Knoxville, died suddenly at 11:24 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, in Lima.
He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in New Knoxville, the son of Ida (Schultz) and Samuel Katterheinrich, who preceded him in death.
He married Joanne Koenig on August 23, 1947, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his four children, Connie Schwabero, of Reading, Michigan, Nancy Selby, of New Knoxville, Martin Katterheinrich, of Defiance, and John Katterheinrich, of New Knoxville.
John I. Gander, 89, formerly of Perry Township, Allen County, died at 9:43 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at the Gardens of Celina, where he had resided for a year and a half.
He was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Columbus Grove, a son of Viola Pauline (Wilkerson) and Jesse Gander, who preceded him in death.
On June 25, 1949, he married Eunice M. Koenig, who died Feb. 22, 2005.
He is survived by three children, Gene A. Gander, of Durant, Okla., Margaret L. Wohlgamuth, of Cridersville, and Bruce W. Gander, of Celina.
Rodric J. ‘Rod’ Luedeke, 57, of Fryburg, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 9, 1954, in St. Marys, the son Mary (Kailus) and Ferdinand Luedeke.
His mother survives in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and his father is deceased.
Other survivors include, siblings, Timothy (Anne) Luedeke, of Delphos, Kenneth (Vickie) Luedeke, Joseph Luedeke, and Andrew (Tonya) Luedeke, all of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Debra (Steven) McClintic, of Wheelersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Luedeke, and a sister, Amy Palk.
Although no cases of a flu virus being spread after exposure to sick hogs have been reported in Auglaize County, health officials continue surveillance.
“We became aware of cases from the Butler County Fair right at the end of July, beginning of August, when our fair was just starting,” Auglaize County Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons told the Wapakoneta Daily News on Tuesday.
She said random samples of swine were taken here by the Ohio Department of Agriculture and a fair veterinarian and all came up negative.
The Waynesfield-Goshen Board of Education and the Waynesfield-Goshen Education Association (WGEA) have reached a contract agreement after four months of negotiating.
The Waynesfield-Goshen Board of Education approved the new one-year agreement to extend through June 30, 2013, with the WGEA during a regular monthly meeting this week.
