‘Won the battle’

Moments after losing the Division II championship game by one run, members of the 2012 Wapakoneta Redskins varsity baseball team had one message — “we will be back.”

Family, friends and fans gathered Sunday at Wapakoneta Redskins Field for the presentation of the season’s trophies and recognition of the accomplishments of the 21 players on the team.

Professor educates on Mars rovers

An area professor and a Mars rover engineer says a person only has one shot when it comes to designing rovers to study the red planet.

Dr. Eric Baumgartner, dean of the T.J. Smull College of Engineering and a professor of mechanical engineering at Ohio Northern University, was the guest speaker at the second installment in a series of public programs hosted by the Armstrong Air and Space Museum on Sunday.

Student succeeds early in life

BOTKINS — Botkins Middle School seventh-grader Micah Smock says he likes being a well-rounded person. He demonstrates those interests in the activities he.

“My mom and dad push me to succeed,” the son of Mary Lee and Phil Smock said.

Smock is learning to succeed early in life. He is a was a center-forward on the seventh-grade basketball team. He was a defender on the soccer team.
