Doyle V. Snider, 85, of Lima died 12:15 p. m., Friday, April 27 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 19, 1927 in Unio-polis to Oscar and Nellie Butler Snider, who preceded him in death. He married Frances âFrankieâ Polick March 13, 1948 and she preceded him in death Dec. 26, 1993. He married Betty Kohli Sept. 16, 1995 and she survives in Lima.
Motorists using East Benton Street through these first few weeks of construction will no longer be permitted down the street starting May 7 when paving contractors move in.
Workers with Celina-based Shinn Brothers start work that Monday and the street will be closed until the $779,680 full-depth street reconstruction project is complete. The project is scheduled to be done by Sept. 30.
Tightly grasping handfuls of pennies, kindergartners dropped them into large collection buckets this week at Wapakoneta Elementary School.
As they gave all the pennies they had they said they were donating them to help fix the “broken school.”
They brought with them from home not just their pennies, but nickels, dimes, quarters and even dollar bills — anything they could find — to help students just like them who had lost part of their school to a tornado earlier this year.
With the Auglaize County Relay for Life only eight weeks away, team captains are working at full force preparing for the special day.
Relay for Life is scheduled to be held Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23, at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds, and team captain Kim Klingler and her team, TSC Purple Stars, are creating a tribute book, The Greater Auglaize County Tribute Book, which will be available for sale at the event.
Wilda Miars, 85, formerly of 04521 Auglaize County Road 33-A, St. Marys, died at 9:12 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Union County in Marysville.
She was born March 18, 1927, in St. Marys, to Ireta (Seib) and Vernon Schmehl. On May 24, 1947, she married Gail V. Miars, who died Sept. 20, 1995.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Ellen Langsdon, of Louisville, Ky., Karen Joseph, of Celina, Joyce Moon, of Marysville, and Nancy Miars, of Hilliard; and two sons, Darrell Miars, of Portland, Ore., and Russell Miars, of Portland, Ore.

Arrangements are incomplete with the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys.
Marilyn A. Sheets, 73, 235 Pershing Drive, St. Marys, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at her residence.
She was born March 1, 1939, in Ohio City, to Matra (Wilson) and Albert âBuckâ Davis.
On Nov. 15, 1965, in Sidney, she married Rex Sheets, who died Sept. 2, 2002.
Surviving is a daughter Patricia Fast, of St. Marys.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral in St. Marys, with the Rev.Josh Andrews officiating. Private family burial will take place at Neptune Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Byron âBarneyâ C. Anderson, 88, formerly of Celina, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born June 6, 1923, in Jefferson Township, Mercer County, to Mary (Granger) and Charles Anderson. On Nov. 12, 1955, he married Garnet Dalton, who preceded him in death May 12, 2011.
Roger L. Carnes, 54, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System following a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 2, 1957, in Lima, the son of Theresa (Benny) and Emmett Carnes. His mother survives in Wapakoneta and his father is deceased.
College students would not have to worry about the interest rate on their student loans doubling for at least one more year, if Congress votes today to pass on legislation to extend the existing interest rate.
Ohio’s two U.S. senators favor the Stop the Student Loan Interest Rate Hike Act of 2012, which would extend the 3.4 percent interest for one more year. The two legislators also favor extending the rate longer.
