Randall C. “Randy” Hensley, 61 of Lima died 7 a. m., Friday, March 9 at Criders-ville Health Care.
He was born Oct. 5, 1950, in Borger, Texas, to Betty (Jacobs) and Thomas Richard Hensley. They survive in Floyd, Va.
He married Gwen Wooley on June 18, 1994, and she survives in Lima.
Mr. Hensley served in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include a son, Cody Hensley of Lima; and a daughter Rachel Hensley of Lima.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Thomas Jefferson, Martha Stewart and William Shakespeare all lurked through the halls Friday at the Wapakoneta Middle School.
The sixth-graders, who held their annual Biography Fair on Thursday for parents and Friday for fellow students and judges, had the opportunity to select a famous person, research that person and then dress-up like them. All their work was judged by members of the local community.
“They worked so hard,” sixth-grade teacher Michelle Boyer said. “They know the person they are studying and are very excited.”
In 15 weeks, the Auglaize County Fairgrounds midway will host walkers for an 18-hour walk for the 15th annual Relay for Life as teams and individuals celebrate victims and survivors of cancer.
Trying to mirror the stages through which a cancer survivor endures, Relay for Life organizers have chosen the theme, “A Cure for All Seasons.”
The American Red Cross is asking everyone to help others in need by supporting the lifesaving services the national organization provides.
The director of the Auglaize County Branch of the American Red Cross is making a special plea for the community’s support in March, which is Red Cross Month.
E. Lucille Bushong Eichhorn, 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:41 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Otterbein-Cridersville.
Arrangements are incomplete at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
Annabel E. Wagner, 101, of New Bremen, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices of St. Marys.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1910, in New Bremen, the daughter of Louise (Schroeder) and Alfred H. Scheer. On Nov. 28, 1935, she married Alvin “Pete” Wagner and he died Dec. 20, 1980.
Surviving is a son, Ted Wagner, of New Bremen.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, with the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery in New Bremen.
Marcille May Cole Oakman, 85, of Wauchula, Fla., formerly of Waynesfield, died Monday evening, March 5, 2012, at her residence with her husband and daughter by her side.
She was born April 16, 1926, in Cridersville, the daughter of Anna (Walti) and Herman Dawson. In 1947, she married Russell Eugene Cole and he preceded her in death in 1956. On July 2, 1989, she married Robert D. Oakman, who survives.
Members garner national, state awards, honors
The number of awards achieved is not always the true measure of a good year, a Wapakoneta FFA adviser told FFA members and parents Thursday night.
With approximately 4,000 people attending Thursday’s banquet, Wapakoneta FFA advisers Ron Brown and Chris Turner discussed the fact so many FFA students had done so well throughout the year.
While specific project plans are still being discussed for 2012, Auglaize County Engineer’s Office administrators know what kind of prices they are looking at for stone and concrete materials to complete some of the projects.
Bids for the rock and gravel aggregate recently were received by the Engineer’s Office and the two products are to be used as needed throughout the year. All bids were accepted and a company will be selected for each project to the best advantage of the county.
