The Wapakoneta Redskins boys and girls track teams both won in a tri-meet against Waynesfield-Goshen and St. Henry on Tuesday at Harmon Field.
St. Henry finished second in the boys meet and Waynesfield-Goshen was second for the girls.
For the boys, Wapak’s Ryan Kremer won the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.4 seconds.
Kevin Kraft placed first in the 100 dash at 12.1.
W-G’s team of Cody Baker, Eli O’Leary, Matt Spillman and James Elliot won the 800 relay in 1:40.5.
With the former Centennial Elementary School property now under city control, initial discussions started Wednesday regarding the layout and improvements to the land as the ground enters the Wapakoneta parks system.
The Rev. Adrian F. Sunday, of Buckland United Church of Christ, spoke at Wednesday’s Lenten Luncheon on “Save Yourself and Us,” which is one of the seven words to the cross — the theme to this year’s luncheons.
“We have to use our imagination to understand what the two men hanging on a cross beside Jesus were like,” Sunday said, as he started out his meditation in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Additional retirements were accepted and six administrator contracts renewed during a regular meeting of Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education this week.
Administrators who were extended three-year contracts beginning with the 2012-2013 school year were Wapakoneta Elementary School Assistant Principal Carrie Knoch, Wapakoneta Middle School Assistant Principal Wes Newland, Wapakoneta High School Principal Aaron Rex, Wapakoneta Athletic Director Brad Rex and Cridersville Elementary School Principal Dave Tester.
Dorothy M. Hittepole, no age given, of Wapakoneta, died at 10:34 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at her residence.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
Jonathan Everage, 30, formerly of St. Marys, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, N.M.

Beatrice E. Swartz, 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home in Wapakoneta.
She was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Lima, the daughter of Beola Estella (Long) and Emmitt Cloyd Stotts. She married Leon J. Swartz, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, David Leon Swartz, of Pueblo West, Colo., Ronny Lee Swartz, of San Diego, and Carl Edward Swartz, of Lima; and three daughters, Eileen K. Zink, of St. Mary’s, Barbara L. Burden, of Wapakoneta, and Debra A. Koenig, of Wapakoneta.
