Former Wapakoneta Redskin baseball star Brian Garman is moving his way up through the minor league system, attributing his success to positive thinking and hard work.
Saturday and Sunday, Garman will try to instill those values to participants Brian Garman’s Pitching Camp in Wapakoneta.
While Garman found success with the Huntsville Stars at the AA level as a pitcher, he knows where he comes from and he owes a lot of his current and future success to Auglaize county.
CRIDERSVILLE — Students at Cridersville Elementary School are coming together for a selfless cause.
The 20th annual “Canned and Boxed Food Drive” is currently underway at Cridersville Elementary School, and the guidance counselor says the number of items donated is tremendous.
“It seems like its more than last year,” Cridersville Elementary guidance counselor Jill Stubbs said.
Stubbs, who was pleased with the turnout, said all the students have been doing a great job raising food for the needy families in the area.
An additional $18,000 requested for the Auglaize Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) for its 2013 budget would help keep two employees on staff.
SWCD Administrator Nancy Fisher asked the Auglaize County commissioners for the money during a budget hearing this week.
“The additional is for personnel, to get our staff up to full,” Fisher said.
In total, Fisher said they are requesting $158,000 in the new year, up from $139,653 this year.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown is clear on the first step to avoiding the fiscal cliff — extend tax cuts for the middle class which would help nearly all Ohio taxpayers.
On Wednesday, Brown called on House Speaker John Boehner to schedule a vote as soon as possible on the Middle Class Tax Cut Act — legislation which already passed the Senate in a bipartisan vote in July and that would extend middle class tax cuts for the 99 percent of Ohio families making less than $250,000 per year.
