FINDLAY — The Wapakoneta varsity wrestling team finished in second place out of 12 at the Findlay duals Saturday to start its season.
The team went 4-1 in its duals, beating Fostoria, Shawnee, Napoleon and Hicksville.
The lone loss was to eventual winner, Dayton Eaton.
Head coach Jason Rostorfer was pleased with the team’s first match of the year.
UNIOPOLIS — Miffed by a narrow election defeat that was swayed by what some councilors are calling misinformation, several councilors railed against Uniopolis Mayor Bill Rolston Monday.
A vote requesting the mayor’s resignation was called, but the measure ultimately failed.
However, it did not stop the harsh words councilors had for Rolston during the meeting.
The driver of a stolen truck remains at large after fleeing from a trooper with the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) early Saturday morning near Hume Road.
OSHP Wapakoneta Post Commander Lt. Scott Carrico said the trooper attempted to stop the 2007 white Chevrolet truck for a marked lanes violation on at 1:43 a.m. Saturday while traveling north on Interstate 75.
“The driver slowed down as if to stop then got back on the Interstate,” Carrico said.
Three-term Wapakoneta Councilor-at-large Steve Walter announced Monday his resignation from Wapakoneta City Council effective Dec. 31 citing health reasons for ending his latest two-year term early.
