Anna Mary Ritter 94, of Wapakoneta, died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta.
Arrangements are incomplete at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta.
William F. Selover, 84, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville.
Other arrangements are incomplete at the funeral home.
Richard D. “Babe” Hormann, 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born June 23, 1926, in Wapakoneta, the son of Anna (Zink) and Henry Hormann, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 17, 1951, he married Jean Ann Mougey, and she survives.
Joan Burke Light, 88, of Lima, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 6, 1924, in Lima, to Mary Lucile (Nichols) and Howard E. Burke. On Oct. 1, 1948, she married Judge Robert M. Light, and he preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Burke (Vicki) Light, of Santa Clarita, Calif.; three daughters, Kathleen O’Hara Light, of Lima, Janie Beth Light (Scott) Hayes, of Austin, Texas, and Jodi Light (Mario) Mendivil, of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandsons; and a granddaughter.
Audrey Lynne Moore, 35, of Payne, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:25 am Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center after bravely fighting a lengthy battle with cancer.
Audrey was born Feb. 16, 1977, in Paulding, the daughter of Nancy (Thompson) and Tony Burkley. Her parents survive in Payne. On Aug. 26, 2000, she married Chad Moore, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dane (age 10); and a daughter, Mallory (age 7), both at at home; and a sister, Alison Burkley, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Five months ago, a group of Wapakoneta area people got together and started planning an annual event aimed at bringing cheer to local residents during the holiday season.
Two weeks ago, the same group started by dividing items into boxes and by the end of the Friday night prior to their delivery — wrapped toys and gifts stretched upward out of those boxes. The group even started dividing food stuffs.
Dressed in full uniform, area law enforcement officers accompany children and their parents through the front door of the Wapakoneta Walmart.
Leading one group, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon comments on the smiles on their faces. He is not only talking about the children who are participating in the annual “Shop With a Cop” but he is addressing the officers with police departments, the Sheriff’s Office and the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Wapakoneta City Schools is extremely saddened about the events in Connecticut and our thoughts and prayers go out to the communities, school and families impacted by this tragedy. The Wapakoneta City Schools will be hosting a School Safety discussion open to the parents and the community on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. School and law enforcement officials will be in attendance. The purpose of this meeting is to explain what precautions we currently have in place, to answer questions if possible and perhaps hear any ideas for improved security provisions.
