The game wasn’t pretty, but it was win — and Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls basketball coach Rusty Allen says he will take the win any way it is wrapped.
The Wapakoneta Redskins played well in the first half, but held only a 29-20 lead over the Allen East Mustangs. Then their level of intensity failed to match the Mustangs, who increased theirs, in the second half, but the Redskins played just well enough to never lose the lead as they pulled out a 49-45 victory at home.
An area village will be welcoming a familiar face to a new post come New Year’s Day.
Cridersville Village Council members selected Jarid Kohlrieser as their new village administrator. He will assume the responsibilities of the position starting Jan. 1.
Cridersville Mayor Lorali Myers, who announced his hiring at Monday’s village council meeting, noted that Kohlrieser has a passion and a dedication for the village.
“He knows the village and he will do a wonderful job,” Myers said.
Auglaize County Health Department employees can expect to see 3 percent pay increases in the new year.
“The cost of living gets more expensive each year,” county Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons said. “We want our employees to be able to live substantially. They do good work and we want to be able to reward the work they do as much as the budget allows.
“We can never afford to pay them what they are worth,” she said.
Kevin M. Falor, 50, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at his residence, as a result of his battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born May 14, 1962, in Wauseon, the son of Linda (Krauss) and Michael B. Falor, who survive in Delta. On March 20, 1982, he married his high school sweetheart, Kelly J. Warncke, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
