Pauline D. Tully, 88, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Ind.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
Virginia Medeline Dicke, 82, of Ohio City, died at 9:33 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert due to pancreatic cancer.
She was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Mary (Rinehart) and Frank Veit. On June 5, 1948, she married Donald Willis Dicke, and he died Aug. 18, 2008.
Surviving are four sons, Gary W. Dicke, of Sevierville, Tenn., D. Bruce Dicke, of Decatur, Ind., David L. Dicke, of Ohio City, and Doug Dicke, of Decatur, Ind.; and a daughter, Linda S. Prowse, of Convoy.
William L. “Bill” Webb, 69, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta.
He was born Dec. 10, 1942, in Buckland, the son of Florence (Friediger) and Pearl Webb, who preceded him in death. In 1970, he married Nancy Kinstle, and she died in 2000.
With Superstorm Sandy recently taking lives and homes when it recently hit the East Coast, a Wapakoneta Middle School student has been doing all she can — she even got her classmates involved.
Aliya Patterson, 11, organized a school-wide food drive, with students bringing in canned good food items and non-perishable goods to school to donate to Hurricane Sandy efforts.
Aliya, who is a member of Teens for Christ Ministries, was at a youth group meeting two weeks ago when the idea hit her.
Despite the re-election of President Barack Obama and Gov. John Kasich being in the middle of his term, Wapakoneta Mayor Rodney Metz says he has heard little regarding financial help for cities and villages from the state and federal government except that Local Government Funds will continue to decrease.
With the federal deficit and federal debt likely to be addressed, he said fewer dollars are likely to flow to the states and local governments in the form of grants and the number of unfunded mandates are likely to grow.
The 14th annual Festival of Trees closed Sunday and was deemed a success by both organizers and attendees alike at The Gardens at Wapakoneta.
The event, which began Wednesday, was held 1 to 8 p.m. through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
“It gets people in the Christmas mood,” Community Health Professionals of Tri-County Marketing Coordinator Nike Duvall said. “It is an event that a lot of people look forward to and come to every year.”

Earlier this year, a Wapakoneta High School graduate and one of the earliest members of the school’s Alumni Hall of Fame earned one of the highest honors bestowed by the Queen of England to the new resident of New Zealand.
Susan (Smith) Stevens, who graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1980 and was elected to the Wapakoneta High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 2010, earned the Queens Service Medal for her volunteer work in the country since 1999.
Area fire departments are coming together for an annual program that aims to bring Christmas cheer to every family in the Wapakoneta area.
The 30th annual Christmas Cheer Program will be taking place in Wapakoneta, and is hosted by the Wapakoneta, Uniopolis, St. Johns and Buckland fire departments.
“The Christmas Cheer Program continues to be a program to collect toys and food items to provide at least enough food for a meal and gifts for Christmas,” Christmas Cheer Program Chair and Wapakoneta Fire Chief Kendall Krites said.
Approximately 20 cartons of cigarettes were stolen early Friday morning from the Clark gasoline station on Apollo Drive.
Wapakoneta Police Department officers responded to an alarm at the gasoline station and convenience store at 2:13 a.m. Friday at the Clark gasoline station, known as H&F Food Mart.
