Barbara F. Hall, 79, formerly of 8673 U.S. Route 33, Neptune, died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
She was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Hume, the daughter of Marguerite (Dobie) and Edward McCune. On Sept. 27, 1954, she married Billy Lee Hall, and he preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1996.
Larry G. Timmerman, 76, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:28 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born March 9, 1936, in Lima, the son of Bertha (Vordermark) and Eli Timmerman, who preceded him in death. On July 23, 1960, he married Sally L. Westbay, and she survives.
William “Bill” Wisener, 56, 904 Tecumseh Drive, St. Marys, died suddenly at 11:57 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was born June 4, 1956, in Lima, the son of Mary (Edmiston) and Mark Wisener. On May 19, 1984, he married Marty Fry, and she survives at the residence.
Lillian Louise (Hodges) Herbert, 95, of Sidney, died peacefully at 2:08 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Sidney.
She was born Oct. 6, 1917, in Hodgenville, Ky., the daughter of the late Minnie (Miller) and Ivy Davenport. She was also lovingly raised by her stepmother: Maude Davenport. Lillian married Charles A. Herbert, and he preceded her in death April 17, 1978.
Six Ohioans died this summer from contracting West Nile Virus and 113 human cases of the disease, including one from Auglaize County, were reported, the most since 2003. The lone Auglaize County resident who contracted the disease is recovering.
The first case of West Nile Virus in a bird or mosquito was reported in 2001, according to Ohio Department of Health statistics and the first human case reported in 2002.
The Auglaize County case involved a 78-year-old man, who loved to fish and hunt, and lived in a heavily wooded area.
Fifteen firefighters from two fire departments responded to a blaze in Wapakoneta early Saturday morning.
Eight firefighters and two engines from the Wapakoneta Fire Department responded to 611 Perry St. at 12:17 a.m. Saturday with two EMTs in back-up. Seven firefighters from the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aide on the fire.
Senior firefighter Eric Snapp reported the fire was confined to an upstairs bedroom. Capt. Jeff Orphal was in charge at the scene. No report on the amount of damage is known at this time.
A Wapakoneta Elementary School student says he is thankful for his family.
“I am thankful for my family,” kindergartener Henry Hoisington said.
His parents, Amber and Ryan, and his 3-year-old sister Brin got to eat “yummy” food on Thanksgiving Day.
The 6-year-old and his family recently moved to Wapakoneta from Kentucky.
“We moved here so we could be closer to family,” Henry said, as his grandparents are from the area. “I like this area.”
