CRIDERSVILLE — A state mandate passed this summer requires all third-grade students in 2014 to have passed a state reading and comprehensive test before they can advance to the fourth grade in that subject area.
UNIOPOLIS — The Union Township trustees approved a contract with the village of Uniopolis to do snow removal in the village on a temporary basis as a vote to unincorporate the village approaches in November.
Zombies will soon be lurking through the streets of downtown Wapakoneta.
The third annual KAPOW Club’s “DARE to be a Zombie Walk” is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on Saturday in downtown Wapakoneta. The walk is set to begin at Heritage Park, behind Auglaize Street shops, near the gazebo.
All are invited to dress up in their best zombie attire for the walk, which will be up and down Auglaize Street.
An organizer this year said there are new attractions added in an effort to grow the event each year.
The field contending for postseason, as usual, narrowed considerably in week nine play in the area conferences.
As far as league titles go, both Ottawa-Glandorf in the WBL and Coldwater in the MAC clinched outright titles. In the NWCC, it appears Fairbanks and Fort Loramie will share the league title, considering their match ups in the final week.
However, several other teams are formidable in making a bid for the playoffs, and several have already clinched spots.
Last year, it was the game of the year in the Western Buckeye League.

This year the stakes are different. Neither team is fighting for an outright WBL title. But both teams are fighting for something.
For the Kenton Wildcats, the outcome of this game weighs heavily on their playoff chances.
For the Redskins, this football game is solely about revenge and pride following the 53-35 loss last year.
