Susan K. “Susie” Hardin, 63, of 11746 Bay Road, Wapakoneta, died 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima, following a short battle with cancer.
She was born April 14, 1949, in Mercer County, the daughter of Carol (Lehman) and George Whitehead.
She married Mickael Hardin on April 20, 1968, and he survives at the residence.
To honor a late Wapakoneta Middle School teacher, students and staff can wear sweats to school on Friday.
To honor her community service and to be able to wear those sweats, students need to donate a canned good while staff and administration have been challenged to donate five canned goods or $5 — all of which will be given to God’s Storehouse.
An injured kitten was brought to a local shelter in hopes to help it survive.
The Auglaize County Humane Society was recently brought a domestic medium-hair 10-week kitten by three young volunteers who found the animal near a home that had been burnt by a house fire on McBeth Rd.
The kitten, Ember, is a female, and needs a surgery to fix an infection in her eye from spreading.
Auglaize County Humane Society Office Manager Miranda Oden said Dr. Virgil Brown, of Mouton Veterinary Clinic, quoted the surgery to cost $300.

Dorothy E. Akers, 90, of Columbus, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 1:44 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus.
She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of Daisy (Ferguson) and Harry Sheperd, who preceded her in death. On July 18, 1942, she married David M. Akers, and he died Oct. 31, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet (Lynn) Wilcox, of Pickerington; two grandchildren, Barbara (Kevin) Mullins and David (Cathy) Mincks; five great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Michael, Erica, Brian, and Mary; and a sister, Lucille (Edward) Post, of Bellefontaine.
Ilene M. Limbert, 79, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Mercer County, the daughter of Hilda (Linn) and Ferdinand Bollenbacher, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her step-parents, Melba and LeRoy Overman. On Oct. 30, 1954, she married Leroy W. Limbert, and he survives.
Dorothy Akers, 90, of Columbus, died at 1:44 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Ross Heart Hospital of the Ohio State University in Columbus.

Robert H. Potts, 88, 534 Armstrong St., St..Marys, formerly of Arlington Heights, Ill., died suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Noble Township, Auglaize County, the son of Inez (Springer) and Harry Potts.
He is survived by a son, Burdette (Debbie) Potts, of Algonquin, Ill.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
