LIMA â Scoreboard?
It didnât matter.
Whatever it had to say was secondary.
All that truly mattered was the condition of two young men.
For the record, the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds defeated the Wapakoneta Redskins 62-45 in a non-league varsity boys basketball contest Thursday night at LCCâs Herr Gymnasium.
But a scary sequence just 29 seconds into the second half made the final score an afterthought.
Brenda and Bryan Ridings recently lost âsomeoneâ close to them.
However, they were more than happy to see the âpersonâ go.
Under the tutelage of Rebecca Manger at the Athletic Club in downtown Wapakoneta, the couple combined to lose 182.2 pounds in the past 18 months.
âThatâs a whole person,â Bryan said with a chuckle. âEven better, we lost our trainer, and one of the kids.â
The proposed budget for Auglaize County Common Pleas Court is expected to decrease by more than $17,300 in 2012 with some unknowns in a few areas.
The decrease is reflected in salaries due to a retirement but the request actually accounts for a 3 percent pay raise for remaining employees in the office.
The proposed employee salaries line item at $144,225 is $14,800 less than 2011 with decreases also seen in workerâs compensation and PERS for a total proposed budget of $232,934 in 2012.
For its county portion of funding, the Auglaize Soil and Water Conservation District requested the same amount in 2012 that it received in 2011.
District Administrator Nancy Fisher explained they get a flat amount from the Auglaize County commissioners each year â in 2012 they are again requesting $139,653 â with the state providing a matching percentage.
âLast year it was 78 percent, sometimes its more, sometimes its less, we never know what weâre going to get until July,â Fisher said.
