BATH TOWNSHIP — Forty times Bath’s Aaron Smith carried the ball.
And 40 times he blasted his way through the Wapakoneta defense like a bowling ball with legs through a host of pins.
But not the last time.
The Redskins stuffed Smith behind the line on a two-point conversion attempt in the waning moments of the fourth quarter to preserve a 14-13 win over the Wildcats in a Western Buckeye League football game Friday night at Bath Stadium.
As Smith took the handoff on the play, he was greeted by a wall of white jerseys led by senior nose guard Jim Knippen.
TROY — The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers are off the schneid.
W-G picked up its first win on the season with a 24-6 victory over the Troy Chriistian Eagles on Friday night in Troy.
The Tigers’ defense stepped up and made big plays to create offensive opportunities.
W-G shut out the Eagles in the first three quarters and held a 24-0 lead late into the fourth quarter until Troy Christian finally got on the board with 3:57 left in the game.
