Wapak Schools continue to be rated effective on reports

Wapakoneta City Schools continue to be labeled “effective” based on results of state report cards released this week by the Ohio Department of Education, but its performance index improved.
“In general, we’re pretty darn proud of the progress we’ve done,” Wapakoneta City Schools Superintendent Keith Horner said.. “We haven’t made leaps, but we’ve certainly moved a couple of steps forward. There are some reasons for celebration.”

Botkins, W-G admins pleased with state report cards

Administrators at both the Botkins and Waynesfield-Goshen school districts voiced their pleasure with their respective school district’s report card numbers that were released this week.
Botkins Local Schools students managed to meet all 26 indicators on the report card, while Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools students managed to meet 21 of the 26.
For Botkins students, it marked the sixth straight year that they achieved a perfect mark meeting the 26 indicators and receiving the excellent designation.

W’field approves insurance

WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield Village Council members met briefly Thursday and finally approved an insurance package plan after listening to a local health insurance agent explain the new policy.
Finance Committee members recommended at Monday’s regular meeting that the full council accept Derryberry & Davis Insurance after researching new plans. The former plan had expired effective July 1 and the council was temporarily paying for the former policy on a month by basis.

PREP ROUNDUP: Redskins remain unbeaten

The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls tennis team pushed its record to a perfect 5-0 with a 4-1 win over the Bath Wildcats in a Western Buckeye League match Thursday at the Harmon Park Courts.
For Wapak, Shelby Gillespie posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ashlynn Vierra in second singles.
The Redskins’ Annie Harrod swept Madison Pauff 6-0, 6-0 in third singles.
In first doubles, Katie Martin and Kirsten Wellons grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Michelle Hines and Kaitlin Singhaus.
Chloe Veit and Rachel Robert also won for Wapak, topping Darla Wieging and Jardan Hollar 6-3, 6-0 in second doubles.
