Robert J. Bayham, 95, 04370 Poppe Road, St. Marys, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 14, 1916, in Dayton, the son of Flora (Hobler) and Frank Bayham. On Jan. 5, 1946, he married Cecilia M. Bochenek and she died Oct. 3, 2008.

First Showcase of Homes deemed a success

Two homes on Auglaize Street were the center of attention Sunday as the Women’s Civic League of Wapakoneta held its first Showcase of Homes.

Turkeys make first showing at county fair

Until this year, the Auglaize County Junior Fair had not hosted an event showing the Meleagris gallopavo. A local poultry club decided to give tradition up “cold turkey.”
While the junior fair had hosted an event for breeding turkeys in the past, market turkeys had never been shown at the fair. That is, until this year.
By the way, for those curious, Meleagris gallopavo is the scientific name for wild turkey, which domestic turkeys are descended.
Jim Nowicki, president of the Western Ohio Poultry Club (WOPC), said the event was overdue.

Drivers reminded to beware of distractions

With children soon returning to the classroom, an Auglaize County health official is reminding drivers to be extra cautious and focused on the road.
Citing a report on distracted driving recently released by the Governors Highway Safety Association, Auglaize County Medical Director Dr. Juan Torres said too many at the wheel of vehicles are voluntarily diverting their attention by either looking at something else, listening to something else, actively doing something else with their hands, or even thinking about something else while they are driving.

NFL: Horn misses Colts' opener

After missing much of the week of practice due to an injury, Waynesfield-Goshen product Joe Horn sat out the Indianapolis Colts preseason-opening 33-10 loss to the St. Louis Rams on Saturday night.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Horn was sidelined by a nagging back injury.
The Colts signed Horn as an undrafted free agent on July 26 after the NFL lockout ended.
Late Sunday night, Horn posted on his Twitter feed (www.twitter.com/SundaysWith16): “Back on the field tomorrow #ColtsCamp can’t wait”
