Three city streets should receive a new layer of asphalt through a state grant if an ordinance receives Wapakoneta City Council approval.
The ordinance authorizes Safety-Service Director Bill Rains to set specifications, advertise for bids and execute a paving program for Wheeler Lane and Franklin and Highland avenues through state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The work would be completed this summer.
BUCKLAND — Now that the Buckland Volunteer Fire Department is separate from the village, raising money to support its services is more important than ever.
It’s largest fundraiser of the year — the 39th annual Buckland Fireman’s Festival — was deemed a success by the volunteer firefighters and their family members who organize it each year.
“We had a good weekend,” festival Chair Capt. Mike Vorhees told the Wapakoneta Daily News on Sunday after the two-day festival in downtown Buckland concluded.
