ST. HENRY — Wapakoneta’s Josh Apple threw just one pitch during the entire varsity baseball season.
That pitch resulted in a long fly ball during a 19-3 loss to the Minster Wildcats in mid-April.
Monday, Apple threw 79 pitches in an ACME game at St. Henry.
Those pitches resulted in a complete-game, two-hit, shutout win over St. Henry.
Apple allowed a pair of doubles, one in the second and one in the seventh, and didn’t allow a runner past second base. He struck out four and walked just two.
Mark Timothy “Bernie” Lee, 56, died at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2011, at his residence.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencervillef, when the funeral services will be conducted.
Other arrangements are incomplete at the funeral home.
Benjamin E. “Ben” Armer Jr., 89, a resident of the Otterbein Retirement Center, Cridersville, and formerly of Springfield, died at 4:38 p.m., Sunday, June 12, 2011, in St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Springfield, the son of the late Phyllis (Gearhart) and Benjamin E. Armer. In 1959, he married Donna Ercel (Shepherd) Armer, who preceded him in death on July 5, 2005.
He is survived by a son, Benjamin E. Armer III, of Australia; a sister, Elizabeth Eichman, of Springfield; a brother, David H. (Marilyn) Armer, of Wapakoneta; and several nieces and nephews.
Carol Marie Jordan, 76, of Wapakoneta, died 10:05 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born Feb. 19, 1935, in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of Marie and Howard Schooley, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 15, 1962, she married Harold K. Jordan, and he died April 4, 1984.
ALLENTOWN — The first appearance of the Engine Pro NRA Sprint Invaders at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday night provided a memorable finish as Randy Hannagan passed Tim Allison at the white flag and picked up the win.
Allison took the lead with three laps to go and held it for just two trips around before Hannagan took it back from the outside to post the win.
In the K&N UMP Modifieds feature, Tommy Beezley, in just his third Limaland appearance, took the lead from Clint Reagle on lap 5 of 20 and cruised to the win.
Alicia Klosterman may not be intending to apply skills that she learned in FFA to the farming industry itself. However, she considers everything she picked up as a member in the past four years as very important.
“FFA helped prepare me for life,” said the 18-year-old daughter of Linda and Tom Klosterman, who was awarded first in the state in FFA for agricultural processing.

CRIDERSVILLE — A new group has been reinstated in an area village, and its members plan to give recommendations to help beautify their village.
A few residents in Cridersville came together to re-organize the Cridersville Tree Commission.
The members of this group will come together and research and recommend ways to beautify their village, especially concerning the tree lawn on Main Street in the village.
The rough economic times the United States is experiencing will prompt Americans to make tough decisions and should force national legislators to make smarter choices, a U.S. lawmaker says.
Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan said he knows Americans realize that the road ahead is tough and are willing to pay the price to preserve their liberties and their freedoms, but after decades when those in political office could survive mistakes “the politicians have to act smarter.”
